Although she never went home in the form of an "American Idol" award, Kellie Pickler was one among the show's most successful alumni. Her birth name was Kellie Dawn Pickler on June 28, 1986, at Stanly Memorial Hospital in Albemarle to Cynthia Morton and Clyde Raymond Pickler. The time she was pregnant her mother was already sixteen years old. Pickler experienced a challenging childhood because of her drug and alcohol abuse, as her mother left her when she was the age of two. Morton returned to take care for several years. However, Pickler said that it was not as smooth. "I recall my mom as well as me at the kitchen table and I said'I'd love God could have me taken away, I'd much rather not be alive with you.' She got a knife put it on the counter, then told me"Here's what you need to do and then.' in fourth grade. It's a shame that I didn't take action on it. However, it left an emotional mark that will last forever. Pickler was later given to her grandparents after she was 12. Morton failed to appear during the trial. Pickler has cited her grandparents as her major sources of inspiration throughout her whole life was raised by them. The mother Faye Pickler died from lung cancer in the month of January, 2002. she was continued to be raised by her grandfather. Pickler earned her graduation diploma from the North Stanly, located in New London, North Carolina.
