She's worked at numerous top media organizations around the world. The time she worked working at The Washington Post was spent covering numerous Olympics, Grand Slam Tennis as well as basketball and football. Nichols began a nine year time at ESPN in which she won two Emmy Awards, and featured in a variety of ESPN's most popular shows like NFL Countdown and SportsCenter. Additionally, she was an assistant journalist on the Monday Night Football broadcasts. After she left ESPN, her next stop was CNN and Turner Sports. Unguarded, a show that she produced and hosted, aired every week on CNN International. The show drew millions of viewers from all over the globe. Nichols also worked for TNT on NBA broadcasts during the playoffs as well as All-Star broadcasts. The work she did on behalf of TBS included baseball and golf coverage as well as Final Four broadcasts by CBS. This was the second time in its 42-year history that a women had been nominated out of more than 200 nominations.
